If an increase in blood affluxion to the head and decrease in blood supply to the legs are natural under 0-G conditions, it is vice-versa in the human body in a vertical position under the earth gravity conditions. A special lower-body negative-pressure suit CHIBIS pools the blood in the lower body to simulate the ground conditions for the cardio-vascular system.
In a few weeks before return to the Earth, usage of the CHIBIS lower-body negative-pressure suit onboard the orbiting space station makes it possible to mitigate effects of a long stay in the 0-G environment and train the crewmember cardio-vascular system for the return to the Earth.
