"Арбалет-2" (Arbalet-2) special-purpose parachute systemThe system is designed for landing the parachutist-specialists of special-purpose teams and pararescue men with the sets of necessary equipment and weapons, as well as for training jumps from the Аn-2, Аn-26, Аn-12, IL-76 aircraft and the Mi-8 helicopters equipped for parachute landing force. The system makes it possible to perform safe parachute jumps with the equipped parachutist's flight weight up to 150 kg within the range of air temperatures at zero altitudes from -35oC to +35oC at the aircraft's flight speeds during parachute descending up to 350 km/h The parachute system has passed successfully through the State Test Program in the RF MoD flight test center and is in operation now. The "Арбалет-2" parachute system is a dual parachute system with similar main and reserve canopies. Both parachutes are located in one backpack and having a common harness. The main and reserve parachutes are similar ram air 9-cell canopies of 27 m2 each. To provide the optimal position of the parachutist in a free fall right after his separation from the aircraft, the stabilizing parachute of 1,5м2 is deployed forcibly. Simultaneously with the stabilizing parachute deployment, the automatic deployment device comes on. It provides for the main parachute inflation in a certain period of time or at a given altitude depending on the unit type and the jump kind. The reserve parachute design provides for its reliable actuation at the flight speeds from 0 to 350 km/h, as well as together with the stabilizing parachute. The main parachute has a front riser trimming system designed to increase the horizontal speed. A special shape of the main and reserve parachute canopies provides for safe landing of the parachutists having minimal experience in parachute jumping. There is an option for the main parachute deployment with the ППК-У240АЛ (PPK-U240AL) automatic deployment device The reserve parachute deployment is performed manually, and the main parachute risers are released simultaneously. There is an option to install the foreign automatic deployment devices of the "Cypres" or "Astra" type on the reserve parachute. The harness has 8 adjustment points that make it possible to adjust it easily on a paratrooper of any height from 160 to 200 cm who wears both the winter or summer gear and special equipment. The harness design makes it possible to suspend up to 50 kg of additional equipment (payload) in a special payload container having an autonomous parachute system, УГКПС-50 (UGKPS-50).
